Career Centers Plan Free November Workshops
Job seekers can learn workplace computer skills, money management techniques
and how to write a resume during November workshops at the Tennessee Career
Centers in Talbott and Morristown.
The workshops are free to participants and are funded through a partnership
between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of
Labor and Workforce Development. Workshops planned at the Tennessee Career
Center in Talbott, which is located on West Andrew Johnson Highway, are:
Adventures in Attitude, Pt. 1 – Nov. 3, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Includes listing, communication skills, attitude awareness and dealing
with emotions
Adventures in Attitude, Pt. 2 – Nov. 4, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Includes personal empowerment, understanding others, creative problem
solving
Adventures in Attitude, Pt. 3 – Nov. 5, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Includes team building strategies, motivational power and reaching
potential
Money Smart, Series 1 – Nov. 7, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Money Smart, Series 2 – Nov. 14, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Money Management Game – Nov. 21, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Job Readiness Series, Basic – Nov. 12, 8:30-11:30 a.m. or Nov. 26,
8:30-11:30 a.m.
Includes job search, resume and cover letter, interviewing techniques,
applications
Computer Literacy Mouse Practice – Nov. 18, 3:30-4 p.m.
Computer Literacy – Nov. 13, 1-4 p.m. or Nov. 18, 4-7 p.m.
Computer Literacy, Keyboarding/Typing Tutorial – Nov. 19, 9-11 a.m.
Computer Literacy, Electronic Publishing – Nov. 20, 2-4 p.m.
Computer Literacy, Internet Basics/E-mail Basics – Nov. 25, 4-7 p.m.
The Tennessee Career Center at Morristown, located in room 110 of the
Clifford H. "Bo" Henry Center for Business and Technology on the campus of
Walters State Community College, will offer three workshops in November:
Workplace Computer Skills – Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Excel – Nov. 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Computer Mouse and Keyboard Basics – Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Both centers offer a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines
that job seekers can use at no charge. Centers also may provide information
about the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Tennessee Technology Center, Adult
Education Program, Walters State Community College and Workforce Investment
are available at the center. All services are free to anyone who is at least
18 years old.
